About Us Brief history:
The Walkabout Creek facility was originally opened as a
wildlife Expo and tea house in 1988 by the Department of Natural Resources as a
bicentennial project for Brisbane Expo 88. Function rooms were added in the mid
nineties.
It is now managed as part of Brisbane Forest Park headquarters complex, with
the Wild Life Centre managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife under the
Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) banner.
The Park and facilities are
subject to continued high level direction via an advisory committee consisting of
representatives of groups from both government and private interests.
Over the years the facility has
served the community educationally, by giving a glimpse of our districts large
diversity of flora and fauna through the Wild Life Centre, coupled with a unique setting for
conferencing and functions for both government and private groups. At one stage
it also boasted a fine dining Restaurant.
